Subnautica 2 Troilite
Subnautica 2 — current release build
Overview
A dark metallic sulfide mineral found in deeper volcanic and hydrothermal zones. Troilite is used in several advanced recipes including Mangalloy Ingot (for the Metal Farm automation module), the Tadpole Depth Module Mk.2, the Feedback Resonator, and the Photovoltaic Charger.
Where to Find Troilite
Thermal Vents / Hydrothermal Zones
Best SpotTroilite deposits appear as dark metallic formations near hydrothermal activity and volcanic terrain. Found in the same regions as Sulfur — but Troilite does not require Heat Tolerance to harvest.
Deeper Rocky Biomes (100m+)
Scattered Troilite nodes appear on rock surfaces in deeper biomes. Less concentrated than thermal zone deposits.
Used In
| Item | Qty | Station / Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mangalloy Ingot | ×1 | 1× Titanium Ingot + 1× Atacamite + 1× Troilite (30s) |
| Tadpole Depth Module Mk.2 | ×2 | 2× Dedicated Core + 2× Troilite + 2× Mangalloy Ingot |
| Feedback Resonator | ×0 | Indirectly needed via Strontium chain |
| Photovoltaic Charger | ×1 | 1× Copper Ingot + 1× Troilite |
| Entangled Power Cell | ×1 | 1× Conduit Crystal + 1× Gold Ingot + 1× Troilite + 1× Strong Acid |
Tips
- →Farm Troilite alongside Sulfur during thermal zone runs — they spawn in the same areas.
- →Mangalloy Ingot (needs Troilite) is required for the Metal Farm, which automates ore production — worth prioritizing.
- →Atacamite (for Mangalloy) is found in deeper oxidized ocean zones — plan a single deep run to collect both Troilite and Atacamite.
- →Stock at least 4× Troilite before attempting the Depth Module Mk.2 upgrade chain.
Recipes, quantities, and locations may change with updates. Data reflects the current May 2026 release build.
