Overview
A massive crustacean that holds a leviathan-class designation despite inhabiting the relatively shallow Coral Reef. The Coral Crab is slow in open water but compensates with a territorial lunge reach that extends far beyond its body size. Its armoured carapace shrugs off most environmental damage, and its claw strikes deal significant hull damage to the Tadpole. Coral Reef explorers are often surprised to encounter a leviathan-tier threat this early.
Subnautica 2 Coral Crab — Behavior
Territorial around specific reef corridors and rocky overhangs. Relatively slow in open water but the lunge reach is deceptively far. Claw strikes deal heavy damage to both the Pioneer directly and Tadpole hull integrity. Does not pursue beyond its territory boundary.

- →Stay at least 30m clear of reef corridor overhangs where Coral Crabs nest — the lunge range is farther than it looks.
- →Vertical movement above its level is effective — the Coral Crab cannot easily track prey that moves above its attack plane.
- →Scout the Coral Reef on foot before bringing the Tadpole into corridor terrain; hull damage this early is expensive to repair.
- →Co-op: one player drawing its lunge while another moves laterally past is the cleanest extraction method.
